heroes and themes

hero qualities:

a hero needs to be brave. if they arent brave how can they face all the tasks and test that they need to for their goals.

they need to be strong. if a hero isn't strong they cant reach their goals. they don't just have to be phisicaly strong but mentaly strong too because if you don't believe in yourself you cant acive what you set out to do.

a hero needs to be independent. they need to be able to rely on themself and get through their own problems. they can't just have someone else do their work for them

a hero needs to be smart to figure out how to beat the bad guy and face any problems that might get thrown at them along the way.

theme possibilities

one possible theme would be bravery. they all had to be brave to go against darth vader. they risked their lives to save princess leia and the others from darth.

another one would be adventure. this whole thing is an adventure with different struggles along the way.

lastly it could be death and reserection. there are lots of parts were you have to die to move on as a stronger person. like when obi wan died so that he could come back stronger and better then ever with the force.

Star wars analysis

Cycle of the hero:

Call to adventure: is when Luke sees the message that princess Leia put in R2D2. He knows he has to go out and help save the princess because she is in trouble. Then when he has to go to find R2D2 and gets taken out by the sand people. Oby-wan Kenobi comes and saves him and tells him what the message is about and gives Luke the lightsabor and tells him about the force. First Luke doesn’t want to go along and he just wants to go home but when he gets there he sees his family is dead so he goes along with obi and the ways of the Jedi to Elderon

Helpers: R2-D2, C3PO, and Obi Wan Kenobi

Threshold of adventure: is when Luke, Obi Wan, R2-D2,and C3PO are at the bar. They meet people that have been out there and back. They find Han Solo who has a plain that they can take to Elderan. Han only is in it because he wants the money. So then Luke, Obi Wan, R2-D2, C3PO, Han, and Chewbacca( Hans companion) all leave on their way to Elderan. As they leave they also get cased and have to get rid of them on their trip to Elderan.

Tests: First they have to get to Death Star. When they get there they have to find and save princess Leia. Once they get her they are being shot at and in there attempt to make a quick get away they fall into the garbage shoot. It starts to close in on them but they stop it just in time before it squished them.

Helpers: Han Solo and the other pilots

Triumph: First princess Leia gets in charge of the Rebel Base and their attack on the Death Star. They are able to fight off the plains and blow up the Death Star. But they are not able to kill Darth Vader. This is also where Luke gets the full power of the force, Darth Vader even says, “the force is strong with this one.”

Flight: is just the flight back to the Rebel Base after they destroy the Death Star.
Threshold Struggle: is when they are back but R2D2 was hurt. They say that they can fix him right up so it’s not that big of a deal.

Elixir: is when Luke and Han get their metals from Princess Leia and are heroes.

Literary Archetypes

The tragic hero: Darth Vader

Belief in his own freedom: he believes that what he is doing is right as long as he has power over others it doesn’t matter what he does, even if that means killing and fighting poor Innocent people he will because he wants power.

Supreme pride: Darth thinks that he is a god. He believes that he is better than everybody else. He thinks that nothing can get him because he is amazing and he is arrogant.

Capacity for suffering: he knows what he is doing is wrong but he doesn’t care because he wants power. He doesn’t care who he hurts along the way as long as he is the most powerful person out there. He knows the force is real and that he is on the bad side but that doesn’t stop him.

Sense of commitment: when he sets out to do something he does it. If he wants to take over a place or people you better believe that he will try even if it kills him. He is very committed to his goal of taking over.

Vigorous protest: he is mad that Luke has come with the force and is threatening his power. He gets mad and if the littlest thing goes wrong he will kill the person in charge.

Transfiguration: When he goes to the dark side. He used to be a Jedi but now hes on the dark side and want to take over the universe.

Impact: he is impacting everything because he is killing people and blowing stuff up. He is also representing the dark side and if there was no dark side the world would be out of balance.
